Room Parent

1.  General definition of the role
  • A Room Parent is an important link between the teacher, parents in the classroom and the PTA.
2.  Specific duties of a Room Parent
  • As a grade level, room parents plan and implement three parties throughout the year (Winter, Valentines and End of  Year).
  • He/She is responsible for lending and/or coordinating assistance in the classroom, as determined by the classroom teacher.
  • Assist Hospitality Chairperson in recognizing the teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.
3.  Frequently Asked Questions
  • Does a room parent need to be a member of the PTA? Yes. PTA money is used to fund class parties.
  • Does a room parent need to do an FISD Background check? Yes.  All visitors are required to do a background check by FISD before entering the school.
  • Is a room parent required to attend the 4 general PTA meetings throughout the school year? No but we strongly   recommend that at least one room parent per class attend so that he/she can bring back that information to his/her teacher and class.

Class Party Money Form is included on the PTA Membership Form. Please fill out and send back to school with your child. On the envelope containing the party money, please label it: ATTENTION: Party Money for (Your Child’s Grade). Thank you for turning those in as soon as possible.
