Our 3rd Annual Norris Neon Run will be Friday, October 27th. Our 2016-17 Neon Run was a huge success! We raised over $25,000 and it allowed us to provide a check to the school to purchase a shade cover for the playground.

Thank you to all of our friends, family, teachers, and staff who donated in 2016-17! A big thank you to our parent volunteers who helped things run smoothly that day keeping kids hydrated and cool. Forge America, CDI Style, Barnlight Eatery, and Efrem Silerio with Keller Williams Realty. Some of the prizes won for meeting Neon Run goals include crazy hat/hair day, a trip to the “Neon Run Store” for fun school supplies, and watching Mrs. Abney & Mrs. Snyder on roller skates for an entire day!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is it? The Neon Run is Norris PTA’s major fundraiser. Students collect donations and turn them in over a three-week period. Each student will receive a thank you goody bag, a Neon Run T-Shirt, and raffle tickets for drawings of numerous prizes. As a way of promoting fun and fitness, the students will warm up with some fun dancing and then run/walk around a small track for 20-30 minutes on October 27th. This is our major fundraiser for the entire school year!

What will the PTA use these funds for?  This year we have a goal of:

  • Enhancing the literacy libraries by purchasing valuable guided reading book sets
  • Purchasing integral classroom resources and curriculum materials to benefit students
  • Providing students educational programs throughout the school year

How much do we need to raise this year? In order to meet our budget needs and to continue to provide and improve great programs and events, the Neon Run needs to raise at least $25,000.

Who can donate? Students are encouraged to ask their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors (no door to door selling for the safety of the children), family friends, or anyone else who cares about their education, to contribute to the fun run. Students are encouraged to write letters, send emails, and make phone calls in support of this goal!!

What about matching funds? Please help your student ask all donators if they work for a corporation that will match their personal donation with corporate matching funds. Company matching funds can potentially be thousands of dollars extra for our school.

When is the actual Neon Run event? On Friday, October 27th Norris Elementary students will participate in a Neon Run during the school day. Students will run/walk for 20 minutes around a small track while parents and classmates cheer them on. There will be two water stations located around the track, as well. We encourage parents to come out, support and watch their child run.

Who is running this event? This event is put on by the Norris PTA. That means YOU! We can’t make this event happen without many volunteers. Please consider volunteering! Volunteer opportunities include helping with setup, handing out water, clean up, etc. Please contact Sarah Davis (below) if you are interested in volunteering.
